Division of International Patient Services

Our Services

Keio University Hospital accepts hundreds of patients from around the world every year. For patients who travel outside of their home country or region to receive our medical services, our International Patient Services and our Business Partners offer smooth coordination and care tailored your needs.

How You Visit

  1. Before planning your trip to Keio University Hospital
If you live in outside of Japan, request a summary letter or referrals and recent medical information from your local doctor.
  2. Contact our Business Partners
Choosing our business partners or a medical coordinator from the Medical Travel Forum (MTF) Member listed below, you start to contact one of them sharing your medical data, and to notify that you would like to visit us with your desirable dates of visit. The coordinator can also arrange your trip tailored specifically to your needs, including stays, transportations, medical interpreters, etc.
  3. Coordinating with our clinical departments
Once the coordinator contacts us, we will confirm to our clinical departments to match the physician depending on availabilities to treat you or provide you the second opinion. It will take about few days to arrange the possible dates and time of your visit.

About Our Department

Established on November 1, 2023, our department was founded to promote the international outreach of Keio University Hospital (Shinanomachi) and the Center for Preventive Medicine (Azabudai).

As of 2023, Japan is home to approximately 3 million foreign residents (Statistics Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications). In addition, the number of overseas visitors to Japan continues to rise each year for various purposes, including tourism, business, and medical care. In light of this growing demand, it has become an urgent priority to establish a system that ensures the safe, accessible, and seamless provision of advanced medical care for individuals from abroad.

To enhance the experience and accessibility of healthcare for non-Japanese patients, our department is committed to addressing their diverse needs through the following initiatives:

– Facilitating smooth coordination between foreign patients and various clinical departments at Keio University Hospital and the Center for Preventive Medicine.

– Supporting the use of English and multilingual services throughout our medical facilities.

– Promoting the improvement of multilingual communication skills among healthcare professionals.

If you are considering receiving medical care at our hospital or have any health-related concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to support you.
